Despite being blamed for declining Today ratings, mishandling the Ann Curry affair and possibly pillorying the dark side of the moon with his less than witty bon mots, Lauers tries – damn hard - to be a good sport.
Lauer hosted a UJA-Federation of New York event backslapping old pal, Bloomberg Media Group head honcho Andrew Lack.
The New York Post quoted Lauer saying he was "a bit surprised to be asked to host this dinner. If you’ve been following the papers lately, you know it’s been a bit rough for me. These days, I only get asked to host dinners if polio is busy.
