The perky blonde morning TV star is devastated after one of her closest relatives was slapped with criminal charges in a mortgage fraud scheme, sources say.
Her first cousin, Stephen J. Ripa, 51, and several co-conspirators are accused of bilking lenders out of more than $100,000 in a scheme involving a Jersey shore condo complex, federal authorities confirmed to The ENQUIRER.
“Stephen is facing possible prison time over the charges, and to say Kelly is not happy about it is an understatement,” a family insider told The ENQUIRER.
“The case has received a lot of local press in South Jersey where her family lives, and the media has been hounding them for comment.
