Mariah Carey’s split from Nick Cannon has the songbird in a downward spiral, and pals fear she could suffer the same fate as the late Whitney Houston.
Mariah, 45, infuriated NBC execs when she was three hours late for a Rockefeller Christmas concert because she was on the phone with a lawyer about the couple’s divorce.
“Mariah is in meltdown mode,” a source said, adding she’s been throwing temper tantrums at rehearsals.
The diva’s recent behavior echoes a similar breakdown in July 2001, when she checked into a mental ward.
“Naturally, friends are concerned,” a pal said.
While she is not a drug addict, “No one wants to see Mariah spiral out of control and turn into the next Whitney.”
