HBO’s new news guy JOHN OLIVER is way off base or his writers don’t check their facts – one iota - at least on one crucial story.
On the 2nd ep of his HBO show “Last Week Tonight” Oliver devoted a good deal of the half hour seg to the death penalty which was picked up by The Huffington Post and Gawker amongst others of Tweet-happy 140 character blurbmeisting ilk.
They said Oliver was brave and courageous in his reporting and oh so accurate.
But they missed the all-important fact that Oliver and his staff actually blew it.
While mocking New York’s famed borough that time forgot, Staten Island, aka the birthplace of Christina Aguilera and the home of “Mob Wives”, Oliver devoted an entire running gag devoted to Staten Island Borough President James B. Molinaro.
