DATELINE ROME -- the acquittal in the bombshell murder trial of AMANDA KNOX has been overturned by Italy’s highest criminal court and now they wants to retry Foxy Knoxy and her lover in the murder of their Brit roomie.
The Court of Cassation ruled Tuesday an appeals court in Florence must re-hear the case against the Knox and her former Italian BF for the murder of Meredith Kercher, 21.
Her throat slashed, Kercher's body wasdiscovered in November 2007 in her bedroom of the house she shared with Knox and other roommates in Perugia, a university town where the two were exchange students.
Prosecutors contended Kercher was the victim of a drug-fueled sex game gone awry involving Knox and her then lover Raffaele Sollecito.
Rudy Guede, was convicted of the slaying in a separate proceeding and is currently serving a 16-year sentence.
